Synopsis

Volume 17 concludes the Drum Island arc of Eiichiro Oda's One Piece. King Wapol, the tyrant who once ruled Drum Island, returns determined to reclaim his stolen castle by any means -- including reshaping his own body around whatever metal he eats. Luffy and Sanji, backed by the reindeer doctor Tony Tony Chopper, refuse to hand it back.

Down in the snow of the village below, the people mourn as their badly injured leader lies helpless, and Wapol's sinister "20 Doctors" make an announcement of their own. The final battle pits the crew against Wapol's shape-shifting fury as the fate of the island's people hangs in the balance.

With Wapol defeated and Drum Island freed, Chopper formally joins the Straw Hat crew, and the volume ends with a cherry-blossom celebration aboard the ship -- the scene that gives this volume its alternate title, Hiriluk's Cherry Blossoms.
