Synopsis

"Das Glück an meinen Fingerspitzen" (Ravensburger, 2018) is a young-adult novel by German author Julie Leuze, recommended for readers aged 14 and up.

Jana travels to the Canadian wilderness to stay with her uncle, a researcher studying wolves and bears, hoping the isolation of fog-covered forests will help her forget what happened to her the previous spring. But when her uncle suddenly disappears and an injured young man named Luke appears at the cabin, Jana has no choice but to trust a stranger. Together they have to find a way out of the wilderness, each carrying trauma from their own pasts.

The novel blends survival adventure with a tentative romance and a coming-of-age arc, using the physical danger of the wild as a backdrop for both characters' slower emotional recovery — a story about the fragility and preciousness of life, and about learning to make peace with what can't be undone.
