Chocolate Cake and Chaos

Detective Inspector Barker Brown is on temporary suspension, which does nothing to shorten the list of people in Peridale with a grudge against him. When a funeral wreath is delivered to his cottage, Julia South's unease turns to certainty the following morning: a dead man bearing a striking resemblance to Barker is found on his doorstep.

With a face from Barker's past arriving in the village and no clear suspect or motive, Julia works outside the law to get ahead of whoever is coming for him - while trying, in the middle of all of it, to bake him the perfect chocolate cake.
