Synopsis

In Robert B. Parker's hardboiled classic Playmates, Spenser is hired to protect a woman known only as Playmate, a woman with a dangerous past and ties to the local mob. As the investigation unfolds, the truth behind her identity and the people hunting her becomes clear, and Spenser must decide how far he's willing to go to uncover it. Set in the gritty underworld of mid-century Boston, this is a tense, fast-paced crime novel in the signature Parker style — lean prose, a morally grounded protagonist, and a plot built on betrayal and suspense.
