Synopsis

Alan Spenser, a Boston private eye, is hired by the Red Sox to investigate whether their star pitcher Marty Rabb has been compromised by gambling fixers. What starts as a straightforward case spirals into a dangerous blackmail plot involving a shylock, a high-class madam, and a pornographic film that has become a weapon of extortion. As Spenser digs deeper, he must outmaneuver a ruthless bookie and uncover the identity of the person actually pulling the strings behind the blackmail.
