Synopsis

Wisconsin, 1930. Since her fiancé was killed in what was called a logging accident, Meredith Hughes has kept her pregnancy to herself, and above all from her father. Supervisor Emyr Hughes has other plans: his daughter will spend the winter at the camp with him, which leaves Meri where he can reach her and nowhere else to go.

Patrick Martins took the camp job to get away from Crow's Nest, from a hovering grandmother, a great-uncle who cannot mind his own business, and a father who drinks. Responsibility was not part of it. Meri was not part of it either, and then she was.

When her father finds out about the baby, Patrick puts himself between them, whatever it costs him and his brother.

Book three of Danielle Grandinetti's Harbored in Crow's Nest, a Depression-era romantic suspense series set on the Wisconsin shore of Lake Michigan.
