Wandering Closer

Wandering Closer opens Etta Lane's Wanderland series. Lily is an author who leaves her old life behind to start over in a small mountain town, looking for nothing more than solitude. Instead she finds Thoren James, a rugged, protective park ranger who — along with his loyal dog, Shadow — offers her a sense of safety she didn't realize she was missing.

Told from both points of view, the book follows Lily's slow realization that outrunning her past isn't the same as healing from it, as ghosts she thought she'd left behind catch up with her. Thoren, drawn to the walls she's built around herself, has to decide how far he'll go to help her face them, even as it forces him to confront his own fears about letting someone in.
