Synopsis

Harry Westcott once had everything — a title, a fortune, an assured place in society — until a family scandal stripped it all away and left him nothing but his own name. He answered by going to war, and returned from the Napoleonic campaigns wounded in body and spirit, content now to live quietly and alone at his modest country home, wanting nothing and no one.

Lydia Tavernor, the recently widowed wife of a beloved village vicar, has learned to guard the independence her marriage never allowed her. She has no wish to surrender it again to any man. Yet when a single unguarded conversation reveals how lonely they both truly are, Harry and Lydia drift into a secret understanding that quietly threatens the careful, solitary lives each has built.

The eighth novel in Mary Balogh's beloved Westcott series, Someone to Cherish is a tender, emotionally rich Regency romance about the courage it takes to want more — and to let yourself be cherished.
