Snapshot

In the city-state of New Clipperton, the Snapshot Project can recreate any day from the past ten as a fully simulated re-enactment, letting detectives walk through a crime as it actually happened. Detective Anthony Davis and his partner Chaz are sent into a Snapshot to investigate what looks like a routine murder, only to uncover a serial killer's hidden pattern — a case that forces Davis to confront what's real about his own life outside the simulation. A cyberpunk-detective novella from Brandon Sanderson.
