Tailored Realities

Tailored Realities is a short fiction collection that gathers ten pieces of science fiction and fantasy. The centrepiece is Moment Zero, a novella that has never been published before. Nine shorter works join it, many of them appearing in print for the first time and none of them previously collected in one volume.

The stories sit outside the Cosmere, the shared universe that connects much of the author's other fantasy. Two titles do link to larger worlds: Defending Elysium comes from the world of Skyward, and Mitosis from the world of the Reckoners. The other named stories are Snapshot, Perfect State and Firstborn, and four more are included.

As a collection, it offers a range of settings and moods rather than a single plot, so readers can dip in story by story. Each piece comes with an author's note, and each has an interior illustration.

The book suits readers who want to try this author away from his best-known series, and it also suits those who already follow his work and want the rarer short pieces in one place.
