Synopsis

Thomas wakes in a rising metal box with no memory of who he is. When the doors open, he finds himself in the Glade — a walled compound at the center of an enormous, ever-shifting Maze — surrounded by dozens of teenage boys who, like him, remember nothing of their lives before. Every night the Maze walls close; every night the mechanical Grievers hunt anything left inside.

The Gladers have survived for two years by rules and routine, sending Runners to map the Maze in a search for a way out that may not exist. Then, the day after Thomas arrives, something happens that never has before: a girl is delivered to the Glade, unconscious, carrying a message that everything is about to change. Thomas is certain he's connected to her, and to the Maze itself — if only he could remember how.

The Maze Runner is the pulse-pounding first book in James Dashner's bestselling young-adult dystopian trilogy, a survival mystery about memory, sacrifice, and a shadowy organization known only as WICKED.
