Synopsis

Detective John Rebus is on the trail of a killer in Edinburgh who sends taunting letters. As the body count rises, Rebus finds himself drawn into a dangerous game of cat and mouse. He's the only one who can connect the dots, but the closer he gets to the truth, the more he risks everything.

Sir Ian Rankin (born 28 April 1960 in Cardenden, Fife, Scotland) is a Scottish crime writer best known for his Inspector Rebus novels, beginning with Knots and Crosses (1987). He studied at the University of Edinburgh, graduating in 1982, and has since written more than thirty novels, most set in and around Edinburgh.
