Synopsis

A Dream Come True is a short, emotionally charged novel by Sunday Times bestselling author Maureen Lee, written specifically for the World Book Day Quick Reads programme and first published in 2007. It follows Maggie, a woman in her early forties whose twenty-year marriage has grown loveless and stale. Resigned to a quiet unhappiness, she keeps up appearances, holds down her job, and leans on her friends to get through the days.

Everything changes after a chance encounter in Brighton. Meeting someone unexpected forces Maggie to confront how far she has drifted from the life she wanted, and sets her on a path toward reconciliation, second chances, and a hard-won happiness that comes at a cost.

Designed as one of the short, accessible Quick Reads titles launched to encourage adult literacy, A Dream Come True packs Lee's trademark warmth and emotional insight into a compact, fast-moving story about choosing yourself later in life.
