Synopsis

Rook "RJ" Bowman is the captain of Chicago's NHL team, and he's exhausted. When a work trip takes him to remote Alaska, he decides to spend a few weeks as an ordinary guy — no fans, no cameras, no expectations. Then Lainey literally lands in his lap on the flight up, has no idea who he is, and turns out to be exactly the kind of company he didn't know he needed.

For a few unplanned weeks, Rook lets Lainey believe he's an alpaca farmer named RJ, and what starts as an easy escape becomes something neither of them wants to end. But it does end abruptly, when a family emergency calls him back to Chicago before he can get her number — and he spends the next year with no way to find her again.

A chance encounter throws them back together, and Rook finally has the chance to come clean. Except Lainey is keeping a few things back too, and between his lie and her secrets, a second chance is no guarantee — it's something they'll have to fight for.
