Changelog

October 6, 2026

1.258.0
  • NewAn import that is still waiting on book sources can now be finished early. The books it has not found yet are added as private books, and everything already matched stays in your library.
  • ImprovedThe day view in your reading calendar shows its totals under the date, with larger covers.

Plus a clearer message when a saved audiobook update is refused, and audiobooks you picked no longer get marked as print copies by an import.

October 5, 2026

1.256.1
  • ImprovedISBN scans check the number and show it beside the result so you can compare it with your copy. For older books with a retail barcode, photograph the printed ISBN or enter it manually.

October 5, 2026

1.256.0
  • NewPlay short walkthroughs for Home, Reading Queue, the reading timer and progress from Help. Open linked screenshots and GIFs in the photo viewer without leaving the article.
  • FixedThe Everything and Progress only choices in KOReader setup fit on one line at phone width.
  • NewDuring your first week, Home can ask how getting started has been. Add an optional explanation or skip the question.
  • FixedReview interrupted reading updates with their original details. Recover recorded time without moving your current place or changing the read it belongs to.
  • FixedReconnect Google Drive or choose the original file again when a book stops opening.
  • FixedChanging a note's copy updates that note while keeping your current read and earlier shared passages intact.
  • FixedIf a share graphic cannot finish on your device, retry online with the same book, text and design.

Plus clearer hints in search, shelves and settings.

October 5, 2026

1.257.0
  • NewYour reading separates each read, its recorded copies and its timeline. Review corrections to dates or reading sessions before saving, including any badges or bingo progress they remove; removing a past read keeps your current bookmark and notebook notes.
  • FixedAudiobook setup, reading progress and timers keep the units and length of the copy you are tracking.
  • FixedText on shared cards keeps its alignment and size when you save the image.

October 5, 2026

  • FixedImported books now check parts and collections before accepting a match. When an exact ISBN is unavailable, the import no longer guesses a copy in another language or format.

October 5, 2026

  • NewBuying options now include Libro.fm links for matching audiobooks.

October 3, 2026

1.255.0
  • ImprovedAdd a book found outside Seekquel to a shelf without leaving search. If an ISBN lookup is unavailable, retry or enter the details with the identifier kept.
  • NewYour copies brings together the edition you track, copies you own and copies used in earlier reads. Continue in another copy within the same read, or correct an earlier copy without rewriting its reading activity.
  • ImprovedSeries keep single books, collections and parts in separate numbered lists. Finishing a collection credits its contents, and ongoing series distinguish being caught up from being complete.
  • ImprovedHelp and release history refresh online and keep a downloaded copy for offline reading. If no copy is available, Try again lets you reconnect and load it.

October 2, 2026

  • NewYou can now send photos in direct messages, book clubs and buddy reads: tap the photo button beside the message field and pick up to four. Tap a photo in the chat to see it full screen. In a direct message, photos unlock once the other reader accepts your message.
  • NewPaste a link in a chat and a card with the page's picture and title goes with your message. Tap the cross on the card to send the link on its own.

October 2, 2026

  • NewReading now works with no signal. Log pages, run the timer, change a book's status, rate it, add a book to your library and put it on a shelf on a plane or underground, close the app if you like, and it all goes through when you're back online, dated when you did it. Your library, your shelves and the books you opened recently open offline too, and a streak freeze used on a day you were reading offline comes back.

October 2, 2026

1.254.0
  • NewTwo home screen widgets. Buddy Read shows how far along you and your buddies are, and Book Club shows your club's next meeting, your RSVP and any new messages. They arrive with the next app store update. Choose which read and which club they show under Settings, then Widgets. Requires an app store update.
  • NewYou can chat in a buddy read before you start reading. Messages sent before the start sit under Before we start, so they never spoil anyone.
  • NewName a book, a series or an author in a post and a card for it goes with your post. Remove any card you do not want before posting.
  • ImprovedEach edition on a book's Editions tab now shows its country, its identifier and what is missing. Tap the missing line to fill it in, or filter the list by country.
  • ImprovedIn the share composer, drag a text box narrower to wrap its text, make it much smaller than before, and pick from new fonts. Pro readers can make the watermark smaller.
  • ImprovedStarting a book part way in no longer counts those pages as today's reading unless you say they were read today.

Plus an undo when you remove a book from your library, and fixes to share card stats and book page links.

October 1, 2026

  • FixedAfter a book club read was cancelled, the club's Sessions tab showed an error screen that could not be closed. It now opens normally.
  • FixedA club read that ran past its end date showed a negative number of days left. It now shows 0.

September 30, 2026

  • NewSpam in comments, posts and asks is now hidden as soon as it is posted and sent to a moderator, so "follow me" replies no longer sit under your posts waiting for someone to report them. A report of harassment or spam can hide the item straight away instead of waiting for more readers to report it.
  • NewPosting a review without marking spoilers? If it looks like it gives the story away, you are asked whether to mark it first. It is your call either way.

September 30, 2026

  • NewWhen we ask readers what to build next, the question now sits at the top of the feedback board and shows up once in your Community feed. Tap I'd use this or reply with your answer, and when we decide, everyone who voted or replied hears what we chose.

September 30, 2026

  • NewYou can now post to Community from the box at the top of the feed: your thoughts on a book, a bit of news with a preview of the link, up to four photos, or a passage picked straight from your notebook. Tagging a book is optional, and marking a post as containing spoilers shows a cover to anyone who hasn't read the book until they tap it. Looking for a book instead? The same box asks readers for one.
  • NewProfiles have a new Posts tab collecting what someone wrote to Community: their posts, asks, shared passages, photos and cards. Like every other tab, you can switch yours off in Settings, under Privacy.

September 30, 2026

1.252.0
  • ImprovedComments now open in a sheet over the post, so you can read and reply without leaving the feed. You can edit a comment, undo a delete and react with an emoji, and on your own posts mute notifications or turn comments off.
  • NewMessages has a Groups tab for your book club and buddy read chats. Choose for each one whether it notifies you for every message, only mentions, or nothing.
  • ImprovedIn chats, swipe a message to reply, double-tap to heart it, and tap a quote to jump to the original. A message that fails to send stays in place with a Try again button.
  • NewNo barcode? The scanner can now read a photo of the cover and find the book by its title and author.
  • NewBrowse and your shelves can now show only books that have a quiz or a flashcard deck.
  • NewThe Community guidelines now have their own page, linked from the report sheet and the help center, and reports can name sexual or graphic images, piracy and impersonation.

Plus fixes to review sorting on book pages, reviews from readers you blocked, and links to a book that was merged into another.

September 30, 2026

1.253.0
  • NewMessages has an Unread filter above the list, so you can see only the chats with messages you have not read. Messages also remembers which tab you were on when you come back from a chat.
  • FixedThe Groups badge could count a chat from a buddy read that had been cancelled or deleted, leaving a number with nothing to open.

Plus a spacing fix to the Posts tab on profiles.

September 30, 2026

1.253.1
  • FixedShare cards made on an iPhone could come out without their book covers and profile pictures.

  • ImprovedComment counts on club announcements now update while you are on the club page.
  • FixedA profile picture from signing in with Google could go blank. Seekquel now keeps its own copy.

Plus fixes to pull to refresh, badge sizing and the session labels in book clubs.

  • ImprovedBook Clubs are easier to find from Community and your profile, with clubs currently reading a book shown first.

1.251.2
  • ImprovedBuying options now check your selected print edition and other likely copies. Verified store links appear as they are found.

September 27, 2026

  • NewThe community feed can now show what was popular this week. Pick it from the chip beside Everyone: posts from the past week, ranked by how many different readers liked them or replied, so one person tapping a lot cannot push a post up.

September 27, 2026

  • NewNow and then the feed asks a quiz question about a book you are reading or have finished, never past where you are. Answer it right there and it counts toward your quiz history.

September 27, 2026

1.246.2
  • FixedConnecting Google Drive, or picking a file from it, could show an "expired" message a moment after it had worked. It now just carries on.

1.247.0
  • NewThe KOReader add-on now offers a new version once, while you are in the file browser with Wi-Fi on. Tap Later and it waits for the next one.

  • FixedMarking a book finished while offline now dates it to the day you tapped, not the day your phone reconnected.
  • FixedGoing back to a screen returns you to where you were, and a newly opened page starts at the top.
  • FixedTapping the rating on a book page lands on its reviews in one move.

Plus small fixes to tag colours, reading stats and Goodreads imports.

Plus a clearer row of filters in the Community feed.

September 26, 2026

1.243.0
  • NewSharing a book now offers several card designs to swipe between, with colours taken from its cover. One is a Checkout card with your start and finish dates, like a library date card.
  • ImprovedWhen the KOReader add-on has an update waiting, Seekquel tells you once, so an e-reader no longer stays on an old version without anyone noticing.
  • FixedThe Calibre plugin could set a book you had started or finished back to want to read. It now keeps the status you set in Calibre.
  • FixedFree accounts can now review their first 10 due flashcards. The review screen used to ask for Pro before showing any.
  • NewPro: Past daily quizzes, on My Quizzes, lists the last 30 days. Play a day you missed or finish one you started. Catching up does not count towards your streak.
  • NewPro: add the What you've kept card to your Stats page to see how your quizzed books split between sharp, solid and rusty, and which books you knew well but have not checked in 60 days.

September 26, 2026

1.244.0
  • NewAdd one sentence about a book under your stars. It shows above your review, and a starter like "Read it if you…" gets you going.
  • NewThe calendar on Stats has a Books view that draws each read as a bar from the day you started to the day you finished. Pro readers also get a Year view with the whole year on one screen.
  • NewAll characters on a book page opens the whole cast, with the other books in the series where each one appears.
  • NewNew share cards for your streak, your reading plant, a badge you earned and your month or year, plus a Rated reads card with up to five books and your sentence on each.

Plus small fixes to Discover, onboarding and adding a series from Goodreads.

September 26, 2026

1.244.1
  • ImprovedThe Books view of the calendar now shows each book's cover at both ends of its bar, and books you started before the month show their cover on the first row, so every bar says which book it is.
  • FixedA book you are still reading no longer fades out at the end of every week on the calendar. It fades only on today.

September 26, 2026

1.245.0
  • NewA seasonal event page now shows a few of the readers taking part, people you follow first. Readers appear there only while their profile is public and shows their reading goals.

September 26, 2026

1.246.0
  • ImprovedLonger blog posts now show their contents list on phones too, folded under the title until you tap it. Tapping a section takes you straight there.

Plus dates on badges and blog posts now follow the app's language, and adding a series from Goodreads no longer links it to a different series that shares its name.

September 25, 2026

1.240.0
  • NewLibrarians can add a whole series from Goodreads. Click the Seekquel bookmark on a Goodreads series page and every book is listed as it is read, so you can check the first ones while the rest arrive and send them together.
  • FixedA book you read twice in a year counted once in your yearly total, your goal and your Wrapped. Every finished read now counts, and the Books read card says how many different books that was.
  • FixedThe strong language filter hid ordinary words in reviews and comments, sometimes across two words. It now hides only whole words it knows, and keeps the first letter.
  • ImprovedIn the in-app reader, a footnote opens over the page. After following a link inside the book, Stay here or Go back decides where you carry on, and your progress never drops.
  • FixedWhen the KOReader add-on could not update itself, it always blamed the connection. It now says whether the download stopped, arrived damaged or could not be installed, and what to try.

Plus small changes to the review editor, the Pro plan picker and half-star ratings.

September 25, 2026

1.241.1
  • ImprovedEach read on Your reading now says which format it was, and which apps it was logged from, like KOReader or Readest.
  • FixedOn a phone, the precise rating buttons on the review page could run off the edge of the screen. They now sit under the stars.

Plus small fixes to the review details button and the changelog page.

September 25, 2026

1.242.0

  • ImprovedThe audiobook sleep timer now shows how much time is left, or that it stops at the end of the chapter.
  • FixedHighlights made in the in-app reader could show a file name instead of the chapter title in your notebook. They now show the chapter.

Plus small fixes to seasonal themes.

September 25, 2026

  • FixedThe librarian bookmark could capture the book you had just left after you clicked from one book to another on Goodreads. It now always reads the book on screen.
  • ImprovedAdding a whole series from Goodreads now waits and tries again by itself when Goodreads asks it to slow down, and a new Skip other editions button makes long series quicker to read.

Plus clearer messages when Goodreads blocks a read, and books added from a translated edition now take their English or original title.

September 24, 2026

1.239.0
  • ImprovedA review draft now saves as you type and follows you to your other devices. Changes to a review you already posted go live only when you tap Update.
  • ImprovedRating a book you just finished is one tap: the star saves to your library straight away. Pick a few moods if you like, then write a review or tap Done.
  • ImprovedThe My Book tab is shorter. Your reads, stats and reading log now open on their own page from the progress card, and your review's page shows your five scores next to what other readers gave.
  • NewA book's reviews can be filtered by star rating.

September 23, 2026

1.236.3
  • ImprovedFor You on Discover opens straight away with your last picks and refreshes them in the background, instead of making you wait for a new set.
  • FixedSending your own book to the catalogue now takes you to the catalogue book when it goes live at once. When its ISBN already belongs to another book, Seekquel names that book.
  • FixedA monthly Pro subscription bought through Google Play could fail to show on your account.

Plus small fixes to sharing images from book clubs and share cards.

September 23, 2026

1.237.0
  • NewThe reading timer knows about your other devices. Start a book on your phone while its timer runs on your tablet and Seekquel offers to move it, keeping the minutes already counted.
  • NewOne Integrations page lists every app and e-reader that can send your reading to Seekquel, with setup steps for each.
  • ImprovedA book you finish in Seekquel is now marked finished in KOReader too, and a KOReader sync sends your reading right up to the page you are on.
  • ImprovedThe Calibre plugin now syncs on its own when Calibre opens, every fifteen minutes while it runs, and when it closes.
  • FixedReading on two devices could pull your place in a book back to an older page when the slower one reported in last.

Plus small fixes to the in-app reader, goals and streaks, and adding a book with the edition you picked.

September 23, 2026

1.237.2
  • NewBook club admins and buddy-read hosts can ask one question at a milestone, like how the pace feels. Members answer with a tap when they get there and see how the group split, and the club page shows where everyone is in the book.
  • NewSharing an open book club now offers an invite card, a graphic to post on social to bring new readers in.
  • FixedOn the website, the links on the home page could stop doing anything for a while after an update. They now open the page you tapped.

September 23, 2026

1.238.0
  • ImprovedBuilding a tier list is quicker. Tap a picked book again to take it back out, filter your library by the year you read it, and add everything that matches in one tap.
  • FixedA book description sent from an e-reader file could show formatting code on the book page. It now reads as ordinary paragraphs, with its italics kept.

September 23, 2026

1.238.1
  • FixedTwo quotes or two written reviews posted close together showed in the feed as one card, hiding the older one. Each now gets its own card, and sharing the same passage again moves it back to the top instead of posting it twice.
  • FixedReading in Readest could count only part of a day when it synced more than once. Each day now counts every page you turned.

Plus small fixes to audiobooks published in several parts and the librarian bookmarklet on Goodreads pages in other languages.

September 23, 2026

  • NewOn iPhone and iPad, Siri can run your reading timer. Say "Start reading in Seekquel", "Pause reading" or "Resume reading", log pages or minutes without opening the app, or ask for your streak and today's reading. Update from the App Store and open Seekquel once to set it up. Requires an app store update.
  • NewThe same actions are in the Shortcuts app for the Action button and automations. On iOS 18, Start reading and Log reading can go in Control Center, and the books you are reading show up in Spotlight. On iOS 17 and later, the Currently Reading widget has Start reading and +10 pages buttons.

September 22, 2026

1.235.0
  • NewSeasonal events: a few days before a season opens, a card on your home screen invites you to its community goal. Finish it and the season's theme stays on your account for good.
  • NewChoose which of your badges appear on your profile.
  • NewA chip above the community feed lets you choose whose activity you see.
  • NewThe catalog guidelines now live on one page, and a contribution that is turned down names the guideline it did not meet.

  • FixedChanging the font size in KOReader partway through a book no longer skews the reading days on either side of the change.

September 22, 2026

1.236.0
  • NewPick the size of your monthly bingo card: three by three, four by four or five by five. Club bingo cards can be sized too.
  • NewSay which format your copy of a book is, even when the catalogue has no edition in that format. Each read keeps its own.
  • NewCapturing a book that is already in Seekquel with the bookmarklet now lists what the page has that the catalogue is missing, from the cover to new characters, and sends what you tick in one go.
  • NewReplies from the Seekquel team in feedback threads, comments and messages now carry a team mark next to the name.

Plus small fixes to the share-card templates, book club members and the theme picker.

September 21, 2026

1.234.0
  • NewSharing a quote from the community feed now shares your most recent one directly, instead of sending you to your notebook first.
  • FixedA day that kept your reading streak going but had no pages logged could show as an empty bar on the home screen chart.
  • FixedSome shared links could show a blank preview image instead of the book's cover and title.

Plus clearer icons throughout menus on shelves, buddy reads, and the library.

September 20, 2026

1.232.1
  • FixedA club invite card with a broken logo, or a share card with a cover that failed to load, now falls back cleanly instead of leaving an empty box.

September 20, 2026

1.233.0
  • NewBrowse can now be filtered by language, alongside genre, mood and the rest.
  • NewA new theme, Great Wave, joins the Masterpieces collection.
  • FixedShare cards for a book you're currently reading or have paused could get cut off at the bottom.
  • FixedA reading day synced from a KOReader e-reader could record an earlier chapter than the one you'd actually reached.

Plus a tidier Settings menu with less clutter.

September 19, 2026

1.230.0
  • NewConnected apps and e-readers can now have names of your own, so two CrossPoint devices no longer look identical.
  • NewWhen two CrossPoint files are recognised as the same book, you can link their progress and choose which copy sets the starting place. Only the percentage moves between them, so no pages or reading time are added.
  • ImprovedThe share-card editor now starts with a blank card or four quick designs, groups card parts by what you want to make, and gives headlines a bolder editorial face with an optional outline.
  • FixedThe Xteink setup button now says Check connection, keeps the address and key visible while it waits, and book matching can recognise a translated edition title when the author agrees.

September 19, 2026

1.231.0
  • FixedButton text was hard to read against the button color in several themes (Risograph, Solarpunk, Deep Space, Cyber, Amethyst and Witching Hour, in dark mode).
  • ImprovedWitching Hour now has a full atmospheric background, matching the other themed palettes.

Plus small fixes to the floating theme switcher and the back-to-top button.

September 19, 2026

1.232.0
  • NewYour library and your custom charts can now be broken down and narrowed by book language.
  • FixedReading sessions synced from the Readest app now show up labeled Readest instead of KOReader.
  • FixedSharing your own review as a photo card sometimes skipped straight to the editor with no image and no way to post it — the card now always shows first.
  • ImprovedShared quote cards center their text properly and now pick from a wider set of illustrated backgrounds instead of always the same one.

Plus a fix for share card previews sometimes appearing blank right after opening.

September 18, 2026

1.228.0
  • ImprovedEmail is now off by default for social activity, badges, feature tips, recommendations, imports, reminders and both weekly recaps. They still appear in your Seekquel inbox, and you can turn on only the email categories you want under Settings, then Notifications. Contributor updates and the weekly contributor recap now have separate switches.
  • NewYou can now mark a book as read quietly from its page. It stays in your library and stats without appearing on your public profile or in the feed.
  • ImprovedAudiobook progress can now be entered as hours and minutes, instead of converting the time to minutes yourself.
  • ImprovedEdition contents now open as a readable chapter list, with a direct way to report, correct or remove an inaccurate list.
  • ImprovedFree trials now show when the trial ends and what the subscription will cost afterward before you start it.

Also in this release: cleaner similar-series covers and small fixes across sharing, book pages and subscriptions.

September 18, 2026

1.229.0
  • NewEditing a book now starts faster: paste an ISBN to review matching edition details, or send a book-page link privately to a librarian.
  • ImprovedReviews now use one full-page editor, with language, detailed ratings and reader notes kept under Add details until you need them.
  • ImprovedQuick actions are now grouped with short descriptions, so it is clearer where each shortcut leads.
  • FixedA review you kept as a draft or hid from your public profile can no longer appear through a direct link, the feed, comments or profile counts.

Plus clearer field help across shelves, groups, goals, profile settings and catalogue corrections.

September 17, 2026

  • ImprovedYour daily goal is now one number you choose: minutes a day or pages a day, with your own usual amount offered as a suggestion. You can also choose to have no daily goal at all, and your reading is still counted.
  • ImprovedYou set how many days a week you are aiming for, and the home screen shows the week as it fills. A missed day is a gap in the week rather than a reset.
  • ImprovedThe daily card on the home screen now says where you stand in words and starts a reading session on the book you are already in, sized to what is left.
  • ImprovedMeeting your goal on an ordinary day now closes the ring on the card with a short line, instead of taking over the screen. The full celebration is saved for finishing your week.
  • NewThe Goals screen now shows the month a day at a time, so a missed day is one gap in a filled month.
  • ImprovedThe reminders about your streak no longer talk about losing it. They say what is left to read instead.
  • FixedEditing a reading entry from an earlier date no longer announces it as that day's goal being met, and no longer plays the celebration over the wrong day's numbers.
  • FixedWhen one goal is met, the celebration no longer says you hit both.
  • NewA book you have marked Borrowed can now carry the day it goes back. Set the date and the book counts down to it on your shelf and on its own page, a "Due back soon" filter gathers the ones with a date, and you get a reminder three days before and again on the morning it is due.
  • ImprovedSharing now draws the card first and asks where to send it after, so you see the finished card before you choose where it goes.
  • ImprovedA library or shelf sorted by Author now files each book under the author's surname, so Ursula K. Le Guin sits under L rather than U. Your shelves reorder the next time you open them.

September 16, 2026

1.225.0
  • NewWhen you change your password you can now disconnect every app and device linked to your account in the same step. The option is ticked by default and only shows if something is connected.
  • NewYou now get a notification when a new app or device is connected to your account, so a connection you did not make is easy to spot.

Plus small fixes to notification emails and the next-in-series suggestions.

September 16, 2026

1.226.0
  • NewEvery account can now make one tier list and start one book club of its own. Pro still lifts both limits.
  • FixedIf you switched off the Monthly Challenge, the new-card popup no longer appears at the start of each month. You can switch it back on from Goals.

Plus small fixes to error colours in the Clay and Cottagecore themes.

September 16, 2026

1.227.0
  • NewListening to an audiobook you added yourself now shows its chapter list, so you can jump straight to any chapter instead of scrubbing to find it.
  • NewTapping a link that leaves Seekquel now asks first, and shows you the actual address before you go. If a link says one thing and points somewhere else, you get a clearer warning.

September 15, 2026

1.224.0
  • NewRecord a book you read before you joined. A book's reading history now takes a read with its own start and finish dates, saved as finished, leaving your current status where it was. You can correct the dates on a read already listed, and save one without dates if you no longer remember them.
  • NewEach read now remembers which copy it was. Read a book in paperback and listen to the audiobook later, and your reading history shows both, each labelled with the edition it was, instead of two identical entries.
  • FixedSwitching a book to another edition no longer rewrites reads you had already finished. A read that ended at page 416 was being re-stated in hours the moment you picked up the audiobook. Finished reads now keep the numbers you recorded, and only the read you are in the middle of moves across.
  • ImprovedSwitching editions on a book you have already read now asks whether you are reading it again in that copy or correcting the record. On a book you are partway through it just moves and tells you where you landed, with an undo, instead of stopping to ask.
  • FixedAudiobooks finished counted books by whichever edition was selected, not by what you actually listened to. Listen and then switch back to your paperback and the listen vanished; read in print and listen later and the print read was counted as a listen. It now counts the reads themselves, so some totals will go down to what really happened.
  • NewBooks you added yourself can go in a tier list. They were quietly skipped before, so a shelf of your own books added nothing at all. They rank beside catalogue books and stay yours: anyone looking at your list sees the cover and nothing to tap.
  • NewMark one of your own series complete when no more books are coming. The series row and the series itself then say so, next to how many of it you have read.
  • ImprovedLong tag names are no longer cut off in your charts. A bar chart now puts the whole name on its own line above the bar, and tapping a slice of a donut opens its name out in full. Tap it again to put it back.
  • ImprovedThe tags on your library screen are now a shortcut rather than a wall. The twelve you use most stay on screen and the rest sit behind a search field, so a few hundred tags no longer push your shelves several screens down. The search box in the tag picker, the tag manager and the tag filter now stays put instead of scrolling away with the list.
  • NewReadest now syncs with Seekquel, and there is nothing to install. Enter the Seekquel address and a key from your settings, and what you read on the desktop, phone or web app comes across.
  • NewSeekquel now tells you when an update is ready and shows you what's new before you restart. Leave it and it installs on its own the next time you close the app.
  • NewA correction you sent now has its own page, so you can see where it got to and reply to the librarian looking at it.
  • ImprovedSending a cover photo for a book with several editions now asks what it should update: that edition, the book everywhere, or both. It shows the cover each choice would replace, so you can see what is actually changing.
  • ImprovedAn e-reader holding more than one copy of the same book now keeps a place for each. Your place comes from the copy you read last, and you can set a copy aside so it stops moving it.
  • ImprovedImporting from Goodreads or StoryGraph now brings every time you read a book, not just the last one. Where the export didn't date an earlier read, it arrives undated rather than being dropped.

Plus small fixes to buddy reads, your notebook and the reading timer.

September 15, 2026

1.224.3
  • FixedThe time against a read in your reading history is now the time you actually logged, labelled "Time read" on a paperback or ebook instead of "Listened". It had been showing an audiobook bookmark, which on anything you read in print was usually zero or a fraction of the hours you had put in.
  • FixedYour place in a book whose length nobody has recorded can no longer be saved beyond where a book could plausibly reach. One audiobook had a place saved 69 days in, and on some books saving your place failed outright.

September 15, 2026

  • NewSeekquel's actions on a KOReader e-reader can now be put on a gesture or a button. Sync now, sync status, today's reading, resume from Seekquel and setting a book's status are all offered to KOReader's own Gesture Manager, so marking a book finished can be one swipe instead of four taps through a menu. Nothing is assigned until you assign it.
  • ImprovedA highlight made on a KOReader e-reader now arrives in the colour you painted it, matched to the nearest of the five Seekquel offers. Highlights you had already synced pick theirs up too, the next time your reader syncs.

September 10, 2026

1.223.0
  • NewThe KOReader add-on now gives you a short recap after Sync now: today's minutes and pages, the chapter you reached and your place in the book. Open Today in Seekquel on the reader to refresh your daily targets and current streak. Automatic syncs stay quiet.
  • NewA place you logged in a hardcover, audiobook or another edition can now come back to KOReader. Open the linked book and it asks before moving to the closest point in that file. The jump is approximate and adds no pages or reading time.
  • NewA custom shelf can now become a tag, and a tag can become a shelf. The same books keep their grouping, while a shelf that filled itself becomes a snapshot of the books matching it now.
  • FixedOn Android and iPhone, choosing a book from Google Drive now returns the selected file to Seekquel instead of leaving the add-book sheet waiting.

September 10, 2026

1.223.1
  • FixedAdding a book from Google Drive now returns to Your books and finishes the import, even when Android restarts Seekquel during Google sign-in. The picker now includes EPUB, MP3 and M4B files.

September 9, 2026

1.221.0
  • ImprovedDiscover now opens with books picked for you. If you are new, the first thing under the search box is a row matched to the genres you chose during setup, and it says which ones it used. The rows that need reading history, Because You Loved, Continue Your Series and Popular With Friends, wait until you have given them something to work with instead of sitting there empty.
  • NewReaders who match your taste. Until you follow anyone, Discover suggests a few readers who picked the same genres as you, with a reason for each and a follow button in the row. Follow one and the space goes back to showing what the people you follow are reading.
  • ImprovedThe upgrade screen now opens on the thing you tapped. Ask to start a book club and it shows a club you would host, ask for a tier list and it shows one, instead of the same reading chart every time. The plan you are buying and its price now sit at the bottom of the screen and stay there while you read, so you no longer have to scroll back to the top to subscribe.
  • NewSix things Pro does that the upgrade screen never mentioned: automatic shelves that fill themselves from rules you set, reading your own EPUBs and PDFs, the full set of quizzes and flashcards, rating to the decimal, shared goals, and mapping any notes file to your notebook. The free and Pro comparison starts with the five that fit what you were doing and opens to all nineteen.
  • FixedIf a free trial has already been used on your account, the upgrade screen says so. Before, the offer simply was not there and nothing explained why.
  • ImprovedConnecting a cloud account for your own books brings you back on its own. Before, finishing the sign-in left you on a page with nothing on it and you had to find your way back yourself.
  • NewYou can answer the team on the feedback board. Every post now has a thread under it: reply to an answer, add the detail we asked for, and we are told when you do. Team replies are marked so you can tell them apart.
  • ImprovedContents in the reading screen searches the whole book. One field over the chapter list finds a chapter by name or a phrase in the text, so you no longer have to remember which chapter something was in. Each chapter also shows roughly how long you have left in it.
  • ImprovedFinishing a sitting now tells you where it put you: the day of your streak, whether it kept it going, and how far the sitting took you towards your daily minutes.
  • FixedTyping a number left you stuck behind the keyboard. Setting a daily target, a page count or an ISBN by hand opened a number pad with no way to close it, and on the queue the search box and its results sat under the keys. The keyboard now has a Done bar above it, and pressing return on a sign-in or sign-up form submits it instead of doing nothing.
  • FixedThe KOReader add-on did not appear at all on older e-readers. If your copy of KOReader is from before August 2025, copying the add-on across gave you no Seekquel menu and no pairing screen, with nothing to say why. It works on those readers now. The one thing it cannot do there is update itself, so it tells you to copy the new files across from a computer instead.

Plus no upgrade prompt on Discover in your first week, so a new account is not asked twice, and when a trial ends the screen names the shelves that went quiet rather than listing features in the abstract.

September 9, 2026

1.222.0
  • NewYour own books can find themselves in the catalogue. Open your own library and Seekquel checks your files against the books we hold, then shows you the ones it recognises. Accept a match and the book picks up its cover, author and everything else we know, and what you have read, rated and noted comes with it. Decline and the book stays entirely yours.
  • ImprovedAdding your own book fills in the details from the file. Title, author and edition are read out of the file itself instead of being left blank for you to type.
  • NewHighlights come in five colours. Pick yellow, green, blue, pink or purple as you highlight, and change it later from the highlight itself. The colour you chose is the colour you see, on a light page, a dark page or an e-reader.
  • FixedTapping a word for its meaning stopped working. The dictionary we ask went down for hours at a time and every word came back with nothing. There is now a second dictionary behind it, so a word only comes back empty when neither one has it.

Plus a reader quote on the upgrade screen, and cancelling a Google sign-in or hitting a busy moment no longer counts as something going wrong.

September 8, 2026

1.219.0
  • NewMark a day you read. Your streak page now shows a calendar of the last few weeks, and tapping a day you read but never logged keeps your streak going. It adds no pages, minutes or books to your stats, and it posts nothing.
  • NewCarry a streak across. If you were already reading every day before you joined, you can set that count once instead of starting at zero. Your longest streak still counts only the days recorded here.
  • NewReading range, a new card on your stats page. It scores how varied your books are across five things measured separately: era, length, genre, language and pace. Free covers genres, and Pro adds the other four and the shape across all five. Each measure is dropped rather than guessed when too few of your books carry it.
  • NewThree more stats cards. Reading rhythm says whether you read a little every day or all at once, Your year in seasons splits books and hours across the four seasons, and When you read splits your reading into morning, afternoon, evening and night. Times come from the reading timer, from reading here in Seekquel, and from a paired e-reader.
  • ImprovedThe feedback board now asks what you are posting. An idea takes a title and a description. A problem asks what happened, what you expected and which screen it was on, and sends your app version with it so we can find it. Ideas are limited to one a day, problem reports are not.
  • NewEvery post on the board says where it stands: open, planned, in progress, answered or shipped. Replies from us are marked as ours, and you can narrow the board by status, by ideas or problems, by the language a post was written in, or to your own posts.
  • NewA support page that gathers every way to reach us in one place: the subreddit, email, a private message, the feedback board and the Help Center, with the common questions underneath.

Plus a clearer contents page editor, and prices on the website now come from the server rather than being written into each page.

September 7, 2026

1.218.0
  • NewA reading day now names the chapter you reached, not just the pages. Your e-reader sends the chapter it was on, and the book's timeline shows it.
  • FixedA celebration you were not there for is no longer lost. Finish a reading goal while the app is closed and the moment waits for you the next time you open it.
  • NewBooks from Calibre that we could not place can now be looked up in bulk. Pick several, choose Find these, and Seekquel works through them on its own and tells you how many it has found. Anything that is not a book can be set aside in the same pass.

Plus a clearer notice when a free month of Pro is about to end.

September 6, 2026

1.215.2
  • FixedThe eight library filters added last release set but did nothing. Genre, your own rating, when you read it, length, and the switches for your queue, your garden, books you reviewed and your own books now narrow the list they said they were narrowing.
  • FixedYour rating filter offered the same star twice or three times over, each one holding a fraction of the books. There is one chip per star now, and it holds every book you gave that star or a half above it.
  • FixedAn automatic shelf refused to save with more than one genre picked. A shelf can now gather books from any of the genres you choose.
  • FixedOn a phone, the Feed, People and Lists tabs sat underneath the clock and battery at the top of the screen. They now sit under the header where they belong, along with two other rows that were hiding behind it.

Plus even spacing around the post box at the top of the feed.

September 6, 2026

1.216.0
  • FixedAn automatic shelf said it held no books, however many it had gathered. It read "no books" at the top of the shelf and on its card in your Library, where it also showed no covers. Both now count what your rules actually gathered.

Plus a tidier row above an automatic shelf's books, which was squeezed into four cramped columns on a phone.

September 6, 2026

1.217.0
  • ImprovedA held streak now shows as held. If you asked us to pause your streak while you were away, the streak sheet and the streaks screen say so instead of showing a number you have to keep feeding.
  • NewShort tours and hints for more of the app: bingo, browse, the chart builder, flashcards, shared goals, stats and streaks.

Plus a fix for links shared out of the app, which for a day could point somewhere they should not.

September 5, 2026

1.214.0
  • NewBadges that only run for a while. A season, a holiday or a whole year now gets its own badge, pinned to the top of your badges page with the time left on it. Only reading you do between its dates counts towards it, and once it ends whatever you earned stays on your profile for good.
  • ImprovedBadges look like badges now. Each one has its own shape depending on what it is for, its own colour, and its name written on the front, so a shelf of them reads as a collection rather than a row of identical rings. They are also about half again as large.
  • FixedA badge no longer changes colour when you change your theme. On a few themes this went as far as making a gold badge look weaker than a bronze one; your badges now look the same whichever theme you are using.
  • ImprovedA badge you have not earned yet keeps its shape and its name instead of just fading out, so you can see what you are working towards.
  • ImprovedProgress towards the next tier moved out from around the badge to a bar underneath it, with the figures spelled out.
  • NewAdd a book by pasting what you already have. The Add book screen's paste field now takes an Amazon or Audible link as well as a Goodreads one, plus a bare ISBN or ASIN. Seekquel looks the book up and shows you the cover, author and, for an audiobook, the narrator and running time before anything is added.
  • ImprovedKindle IDs are the one thing Amazon publishes nothing readable for. Paste one and you land on the details form with the ID already filled in, instead of an error.
  • FixedSharing your profile used to produce a blank Seekquel card in chats and messages. The link now previews with your name, your description and three books you have finished. A profile set to private or followers-only keeps the plain card.
  • NewYou can now write a one-line description of yourself in Edit profile. It sits under your name on your profile and travels with the link when you share it.
  • ImprovedYour profile no longer shows tabs with nothing in them. Visitors see only the ones that open onto something; you still see all of yours, empty or not.
  • ImprovedThe numbers under your name are now books read, books shelved, your average rating and days spent reading. Followers and following moved to a line under your name.
  • FixedA bio longer than two lines was cut off with no way to read the rest. There is now a Show more.
  • NewSeekquel now tells you when a book you were waiting for comes out. Put an unreleased book on Want to Read or mark it Interested and you'll hear on release day, in the app, on your phone and by email. Following the author still covers everything they publish.
  • ImprovedBook releases is its own row in notification settings, so you can switch it off on any channel without touching anything else.
  • FixedA book announced only for a year could be declared out on the 1st of January. It now waits until the year it named is actually over.
  • ImprovedA book that has not come out yet no longer shows a star rating. It shows the release date and how many advance reviews are waiting, and the rating opens on publication day with those reviews counted. Nothing is hidden: the reviews are there to read, with their own stars, from the day they are written.
  • NewA review written from an advance copy is marked as one, so you can see where an early opinion came from.
  • NewShelving a book that is not out yet as read now asks how you read it. Say you have an advance copy, or tell us the release date is wrong and we will fix the book's page for everyone.

September 5, 2026

1.215.0
  • NewYou can now choose which kinds of card reach your feed. Five switches in Settings, under Privacy: reviews and finished books, shelving and progress, goals and streaks, clubs and buddy reads, and suggestions from Seekquel. Turn one off and that kind stops appearing, from everyone.
  • ImprovedSetting a reading goal no longer posts it. The sheet that creates a goal now has a "Post this goal" switch, off unless you turn it on, so a goal you set for yourself stays yours.
  • NewYour feed switches between Following, Everyone and Mine at the top, instead of a checkbox buried in the filters.
  • NewPost from the top of the feed. Ask readers for a book, share a quote from your notebook, or build a card, all from one row above the first post.
  • NewEvery post now carries its own menu: copy a link to it, mute the reader, unfollow them, or hide the post. Hiding offers an undo, so a mistaken tap costs nothing.
  • NewEight more ways to filter your library: genre, your own rating, when you read it, length, whether it is in your reading queue, whether it is growing in your garden, whether you reviewed it, and your own books. The same conditions build an automatic shelf.
  • ImprovedThe community tabs are in the order readers use them. Feed, People and Lists sit across the top, with buddy reads, book clubs, shared goals and recommendations one tap away under More. Any link you have already shared still lands where it did.
  • FixedFiltering your feed by a kind of activity used to fail outright on eleven of them, including every suggestion Seekquel makes and announcements from us.

Plus small fixes to the feed, reading goals and the library filters.

September 4, 2026

1.213.1
  • FixedA series recap could show literal asterisks around a bold or italic phrase instead of formatting it.
  • FixedThe label on the "Add to Want to Read" button could turn hard to read against some colour palettes.
  • ImprovedThe jump-to-book list on a series recap page now shows each title, not just its number.

September 3, 2026

1.210.0
  • NewA changelog, so you can see what has changed in each release. It is in Settings, and in the footer of the website.
  • ImprovedHome screen widgets now use the language you picked in the app, follow dark mode, and pick an accent colour that stays readable on them. Requires an app store update.
  • FixedIf you read in a language other than English, the app showed English for a moment on every launch before switching over.
  • FixedTapping a home screen widget or a Seekquel link did not open the book, and the app did not refresh when you came back to it.
  • FixedThe upgrade screen could load forever instead of showing the plans.

Plus a shelf name you can tap in the feed, and a clearer answer when a cover image cannot be read.

September 3, 2026

1.211.0
  • NewIn the reader you can now choose one column or two pages side by side, or let it decide from the width of your screen.
  • ImprovedReading settings are one screen again, split into Text and Reading, instead of hiding half of them behind an advanced sheet.
  • ImprovedHome screen suggestions are a strip you swipe through, rather than one card at a time.
  • FixedOn Android, the back button left the screen instead of closing the panel that was open on top of it.
  • FixedOn Android, the status and navigation bars reappeared on every page turn while reading full screen.

September 3, 2026

1.212.0
  • ImprovedA book's page has a Next tab: the rest of the series, similar books, the screen adaptation and the lists the book appears on, gathered in one place instead of spread down the Info tab. It only shows up when there is something to put on it.
  • FixedOn several forms the on-screen keyboard could sit over the box you were typing in, with no way to scroll down to it. Correcting a book, editing your profile, importing notes and building a chart are all fixed.

Plus more of the cover's colour behind a book's header, and section links that stay readable as you scroll past them.

September 3, 2026

1.213.0
  • NewYou can now write up what happens in a series with no recap yet, or suggest a rewrite of one that is already there. A Seekquel editor rewrites it before it goes live, and you are credited underneath.
  • NewOn Android, the reader can turn pages with the volume buttons instead of tapping.
  • ImprovedReader margins can now be set separately for each side of the page, instead of one number for all four.
  • FixedDeleting one of your past reads of a book could leave the others mislabeled (Read 1, Read 3, with no Read 2); they are renumbered correctly now.

September 2, 2026

1.209.0
  • NewSeekquel is now available in Portuguese.
  • ImprovedThe home screen has more to arrange: a daily strip, quick actions and a suggestions section, each one movable or switched off like every other card.
  • NewA widget gallery in Settings shows every home screen widget, and on Android it can add one for you.
  • NewYou can take notes while reading in the companion reader, and see a summary of the sitting when you close it.
  • NewYou can delete your account from Settings, with a summary of what goes with it.
  • FixedOn Android, selecting text inside a book brought the system copy bar back over the page three seconds later.

Plus faster scrolling through long libraries, and leaving the reader now returns you to where you opened it from.

September 1, 2026

1.208.0
  • NewYou can report that a printing is filed under the wrong book, from the Editions tab.
  • NewBooks can be read aloud on Android.
  • ImprovedDragging a cover in the share composer and panning the garden are far smoother, most noticeably on Android.

Plus a fix to exporting a wrap-up.

August 31, 2026

1.207.0
  • NewAsk for a book: say what you are in the mood for, and other readers answer with real books you can shelve in one tap.
  • NewA launcher icon picker, and screen adaptations now appear in the community feed.
  • ImprovedFiles from your e-reader that are not books get their own tab to be set aside on, and books waiting from Calibre can be cleared in batches.
  • ImprovedFinishing a book no longer interrupts itself: badges and celebrations wait until you are through the flow.

Plus bingo history, how a review changed your ratings, and corrections to the privacy, terms and support pages.

August 29, 2026

1.203.3
  • NewBrowse filters for the year a book was first published, and for books with no recorded length.
  • ImprovedFollower and following counts show on your engagement page, and a private book can carry a series.
  • FixedThe app could sit on a stale version after an update instead of reloading itself.

Plus scrollable edition source tabs and a contributor credit under community edits.

August 26, 2026

1.203.0
  • ImprovedChart Builder rebuilt: the preview stays in view while you pick, and the save bar is always in reach.

Plus a notice when an import file arrives with its lines broken, and a fix to loading comment replies.

August 25, 2026

1.200.0
