The Harry Bosch novels
Meet Harry Bosch, an LAPD homicide detective who doesn't play by the rules. This collection introduces three cases that push Bosch to his limits, from a personal investigation into a fellow Vietnam veteran's death to a dangerous dive into the world of drug trafficking. He also faces a chilling accusation of killing the wrong man in a serial killer case. Follow Bosch as he navigates the dark underbelly of Los Angeles, where every lead could be his last.
While each novel functions as a self-contained mystery, reading them in publication order reveals the gradual evolution of Bosch's personal life and his shifting relationship with the LAPD hierarchy. Starting with The Black Echo provides the necessary context for his recurring professional conflicts and the long-term character arcs that span the series.
The character is the subject of the streaming series Bosch, which draws plot elements from multiple books across its seasons rather than adapting a single novel per season. The show maintains the core procedural focus of the source material while updating the timeline to a contemporary setting.
The Harry Bosch novels exist within a shared universe that frequently intersects with the Mickey Haller series, often referred to as the Lincoln Lawyer books. These characters are established as half-brothers, leading to significant crossover events where their legal and investigative paths converge.
