Synopsis

Harry Bosch has walked away from the LAPD, but he can't walk away from Angella Benton. Four years earlier, the young film-production assistant was murdered in her apartment, and days later a movie set was robbed of two million dollars in cash. Bosch never got to finish the case before it was pulled from him — and now, retired and restless with a fresh private investigator's license, he takes it up again on his own.

Digging into the cold file, Bosch runs headlong into the people who buried it: former colleagues who resent his return, an FBI unit with its own reasons to keep the past closed, and a trail that leads back to Las Vegas and his ex-wife, Eleanor Wish. Working without a badge for the first time, he learns how little protection the truth offers a man who no longer has the department behind him.

Narrated in Bosch's own first-person voice — a first for the series — Lost Light is a reflective, hard-edged mystery about obsession, memory, and what a detective becomes when the job that defined him is gone.
