Synopsis

When their grandfather loses a leg in an accident, two young Jamaican boys are determined to help him rediscover his zest for life. They set out to earn money, hoping to buy a special buggy that will allow him to attend church and regain his independence.

Cyril Everard Palmer (1930–2013) was a Jamaican writer best known for children's novels set in rural Jamaica. Born in Kendal, Hanover Parish, he trained as a teacher at Mico Teachers' College in Kingston and worked as a journalist for The Gleaner before his first novel, A Broken Vessel, was published in 1960. He went on to write more than a dozen children's books, including The Wooing of Beppo Tate, A Cow Called Boy and My Father, Sun-Sun Johnson, praised for their craftsmanship and humour. He e...
