Every year, the people of the Protectorate leave a baby as an offering to the witch in the forest. But the witch, Xan, is kind and secretly rescues these children, raising them with the help of a swamp monster and a tiny dragon. One year, Xan accidentally feeds a baby moonlight, filling her with extraordinary magic, and must now help the girl understand her power before it consumes her.
