Synopsis

Seven days after escaping Los Angeles, June Iparis and Daniel "Day" Wing are wanted fugitives — June for treason against the Republic, Day for a crime he never committed. Believed dead, the two make their way to Las Vegas, the Republic's farthest military outpost, in search of the underground rebel group known as the Patriots.

They arrive just as the Republic is thrown into chaos: the ailing Elector Primo has died, and his son Anden has taken his place. The Patriots want June and Day to help them assassinate the new Elector before he can consolidate power — but as June gets closer to Anden, she begins to question whether he might actually be the reformer the Republic needs, and whether the Patriots' cause is as righteous as it claims.

With Day's young companions Tess and Eden in tow, and Patriot pilot Kaede flying them into danger, June and Day are forced to choose between loyalty to the people who saved them and loyalty to what they believe is right — while a larger conspiracy moves against them both.
