Synopsis

Alanna has achieved her dream of becoming a knight errant, but now faces a crisis of purpose. Her uncertainty must wait, however, as she's tasked with recovering the powerful Dominion Jewel before her archenemy, Duke Roger, can seize it. In this final installment of the quartet, Alanna must confront her past and secure her future as both a warrior and a woman.

Tamora Pierce (born December 13, 1954, in South Connellsville, Pennsylvania) is an American author of fantasy fiction for young adults, best known for her Tortall novels beginning with the Song of the Lioness quartet (1983–1988). She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1976 and was awarded the Young Adult Library Services Association's Margaret A. Edwards Award in 2013 for her lasting contribution to writing for teens.
