Jubilee's Journey

2013

Synopsis

When tragedy takes their family in the West Virginia coalfields, Paul Jones and his seven-year-old sister Jubilee set out for a new life. Within a day they are separated, and Paul walks into a robbery he had no part in planning.

Grocer Sidney Klaussner is shot and lies unconscious in the hospital; across the corridor is the boy everyone assumes pulled the trigger. Klaussner's wife wants him punished, and no one in Wyattsville knows what really happened inside that store. The only person who does is Jubilee - and she is seven years old.

The second Wyattsville novel: a 1950s family saga about rushed judgement, forgiveness and the neighbours who decide to help two children nobody else will vouch for.
