Synopsis

Sophie Beckett is the illegitimate daughter of an earl, raised in his household and then reduced to servitude by her cruel stepmother after his death. When she slips away to a masquerade ball in a borrowed gown, she shares one magical, anonymous night with Benedict Bridgerton—and then vanishes before he can learn her name.

Benedict cannot forget the mysterious woman from the ball. Years later he crosses paths with a housemaid who stirs the same feelings, never guessing she is the woman he has been searching for. Sophie, terrified of the shame her birth would bring him, keeps her secret and holds him at arm's length, even as her heart betrays her.

A tender Cinderella retelling and the third book in Julia Quinn's Bridgerton series, An Offer from a Gentleman is a Regency romance about class, longing, and the courage it takes to believe you deserve to be loved.
