Synopsis

Deadly Desert Winds continues Xu Lei's Grave Robbers' Chronicles as Wu Xie and his crew, still skeptical of Uncle Three's account of past events, receive a set of unsettling videotapes showing scenes and faces that hit far too close to home.

An abandoned house yields a cryptic notebook, and what begins as an expedition into the Gobi Desert spirals into a rainforest ordeal with venomous snakes and a companion's death. Throughout, a mysterious, possibly murderous guide leads the group deeper into danger, while a nameless supernatural presence threatens both their lives and their sanity.

Fans of the series' blend of Chinese tomb-raiding adventure and creeping horror will find this entry a turning point, with sharper pacing and character work than earlier volumes.
