Synopsis

Waves Extinguish the Wind concludes the Strugatsky brothers' Noon Universe series, following the journey of Maxim Kammerer as he investigates a new, highly evolved species known as the Luden. This species, emerging from within humanity itself, possesses abilities far beyond ordinary understanding. The story examines questions about human evolution, the nature of progress, and the potential obsolescence of humanity in the face of its own advancement. This novel offers a striking look at what it means to be human when a superior form is on the horizon.
