Synopsis

L.A. private eye Elvis Cole heads to Louisiana to help a television star find her biological parents. What starts as a routine background check quickly turns dangerous as Cole uncovers a web of local corruption and long-buried secrets. He must navigate the unfamiliar bayou culture while someone tries to stop his investigation by any means necessary.

Robert Crais (born June 20, 1953, in Independence, Louisiana) is an American author of crime fiction and a former television screenwriter. Before turning to novels he wrote for series including Hill Street Blues, Miami Vice, Cagney & Lacey and L.A. Law. His 1987 debut, The Monkey's Raincoat, introduced private investigator Elvis Cole and won the Anthony and Macavity Awards; Cole's partner Joe Pike went on to headline his own spin-off novels within the same series.
