Synopsis

This is the story of a young boy named Hemn who lives in a village in Iraqi Kurdistan. When his grandfather falls ill, Hemn must embark on a dangerous journey to find a legendary pomegranate tree, believed to hold the cure. Facing the harsh realities of war and displacement, Hemn's quest becomes a test of his courage and resilience.

Bachtyar Ali (Sorani Kurdish: بەختیار عەلی; also transliterated Bakhtiyar or Bakhtyar Ali) is a Kurdish novelist, poet and essayist, born in 1966 in Sulaymaniyah in Iraqi Kurdistan. Injured during student protests against Saddam Hussein's government in 1983, he abandoned his geology studies for literature, and published his first poetry collection, Gunah w Karnaval (Sin and Carnival), in 1992.
