Synopsis

Kate Flynn left Ireland the day she finished school and has spent her adult life in London running a photography gallery with her best friend Nat, doing her best not to look back. A surprise pregnancy and her partner Ben's insistence on a visit home force her to return to the family and the past she has been avoiding.

At the centre of that past is Eva, Kate's mother, who was diagnosed with cancer while pregnant and chose to forgo treatment to protect her unborn child, dying and leaving her young family motherless. Kate has never been able to forgive that choice, and coming home means finally reckoning with it as she prepares to become a mother herself.

The Last Goodbye is a story of love and loss, guilt and forgiveness, and the decisions that echo across a lifetime. Caroline Finnerty's novel has been likened to the work of Jodi Picoult and Diane Chamberlain for readers drawn to emotional family drama.
