The language of threads

As the Japanese invasion sweeps through China, a woman working in the silk trade is forced to flee her village, taking an orphaned "silk sister" with her. They find temporary sanctuary in Hong Kong, only to face renewed devastation when World War II erupts and the conflict reaches their new home.
