The Lamplighters

On New Year's Eve, 1972, a relief boat arrives at the remote Maiden Rock lighthouse off the Cornish coast, only to find no one there. The entrance door is locked from the inside, a meal is uneaten, and all clocks are stopped at 8:45, despite a log entry describing a storm that never happened.

Two decades later, a writer seeks out the wives of the missing keepers, determined to uncover the truth. Moving between the women's present-day accounts and the men's final weeks in the tower, long-held secrets surface as the true events of that fateful night are slowly pieced together.
