Synopsis

The Kindly Ones is the ninth collected volume of Neil Gaiman's The Sandman, illustrated primarily by Marc Hempel. The Kindly Ones — also known as the Erinyes, the Eumenides, or the Furies — are agents of vengeance who do not rest until the crimes they seek to punish are answered in blood. Lyta Hall turns to them when her infant son, Daniel, is taken from her, and their target becomes Dream of the Endless.

Behind a mother's grief lie darker forces at work, and what they set in motion demands a sacrifice greater than any the Dreaming has yet paid. As the longest single story in the series, this volume draws together plot threads running since the beginning of The Sandman and brings them to a climax that permanently changes the world of Dream.
