Synopsis

Season of Mists opens with Dream confronting an old cruelty: ten thousand years earlier, he condemned a former lover, Nada, to Hell for refusing him. Pressured by his family to make amends, he resolves to go rescue her — only to arrive and discover that Lucifer Morningstar has grown tired of ruling Hell and has evicted every soul and demon, handing Dream the key to an empty kingdom.

What follows is a darkly comic procession of gods, angels, and mythological powers descending on Dream's realm, each making a case for why they should inherit Hell, in one of the most acclaimed story arcs of Neil Gaiman's Sandman.
