Synopsis

A terrifying plague called the 'Gets is sweeping the world. It begins as simple forgetfulness—keys, names, appointments—and ends with the body forgetting how to function at all. There is no cure, and humanity is running out of time. Then word comes of a discovery at the very bottom of the Mariana Trench, eight miles down, where a research station has found a strange substance that might hold the key to stopping the disease.

Veterinarian Luke Nelson is asked to descend to the Trieste to reach his estranged brother, Clayton, a brilliant and cold scientist who has stopped communicating with the surface. What Luke finds in the crushing dark is a station where something has gone terribly wrong—where the isolation, the pressure, and something far older and hungrier prey on the mind, dredging up each person's worst memories and deepest guilt.

Nick Cutter's claustrophobic horror novel drags the reader into the lightless deep for a relentless descent into dread. Visceral and disturbing, it is not for the faint of heart.
