Synopsis

The Black Volume of the Dead is the projected third and final book of The Eldest Curses, an adult Shadowhunters trilogy co-authored by Cassandra Clare and Wesley Chu that follows Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood. As of 2026 it has no release date; because it is tied chronologically to Clare's later Shadowhunter storylines, it is not expected until after other forthcoming Shadowhunter novels are published. The two released books are The Red Scrolls of Magic (2019) and The Lost Book of the White (2020).
