Synopsis

Xue is a gifted qin player with no past to speak of; orphaned young, she was raised by her poet uncle and apprenticed to one of the kingdom's finest entertainment houses. When he's killed in a bandit attack, she's left facing a lifetime of indentured servitude, until Duke Meng, awkward and unexpectedly kind for nobility, offers to free her from her contract if she serves as his musician for one year. The offer turns strange fast: the two barely survive an attack by a nightmarish monster, and Xue learns Meng is secretly the Duke of Dreams, one of the divine rulers of the Six Realms. With incursions by demonic beasts growing more frequent and the realms edging toward war, the Duke needs Xue to unlock memories from a past she doesn't remember, all while dodging every monster and deity with an interest in her survival.
