Synopsis

Theo Silva is a rowdy bull rider and unrepentant ladies’ man — trouble in an extremely good-looking package. Winter “Winnie” Hamilton is the opposite: estranged from her sister, nearly free of a toxic marriage, and thoroughly done with men. After one night together leaves lasting consequences and Theo doesn’t return her calls, Winnie assumes she’ll never see him again. Then an injury sidelines Theo in Chestnut Springs, dropping him right back into her path, and the temptation she swore off comes served with a heaping side of heartbreak. The fourth Chestnut Springs novel is an emotional second-chance romance about two guarded people — one rebuilding her life, one learning to stay — finding their way toward something neither expected to want.

Frequently asked questions

  • Do I need to read the previous Chestnut Springs books before starting this one?

While this book can be enjoyed as a standalone romance, reading the first book in the series, Flawless, provides crucial context [1.2.4]. The female protagonist, Winter, is introduced there as an antagonistic figure, and starting with her own book means missing the setup of her complex relationship with her sister, Summer.

  • How does this book connect to the author's other series?

The story features Theo Silva, whose family ties directly connect this series to the author's other work. Readers looking for more of his family can find them featured in the novel Fever Dream.

  • Who is the couple in Reckless?

It follows Theo Silva, a rowdy bull rider, and Winter 'Winnie' Hamilton — the estranged sister of Summer from Flawless.

  • How is Winnie connected to the earlier Chestnut Springs books?

Winnie is Summer Hamilton's estranged sister, tying Reckless back to Summer and Rhett's story in Flawless.

  • What's the central conflict in Reckless?

After a one-night stand with lasting consequences and a period of no contact, an injury brings Theo back to Chestnut Springs, forcing Winnie to face the feelings and complications she tried to leave behind.

  • Where does Reckless fall in the Chestnut Springs series?

It's the fourth book in the Chestnut Springs series.

  • Is Reckless spicy?

Yes — it's an open-door contemporary romance in keeping with the series.

  • Can I read the Chestnut Springs books as standalones?

Yes. Every Chestnut Springs book follows a new couple and resolves its own romance, but the Eaton family and their friends recur throughout, so reading in order (Flawless first) is the most rewarding way through the series.
