Synopsis

The first half of the series' great afterlife road trip begins here, as Promethea and Barbara Shelley leave the material world behind to travel through a sprawling range of the higher and lower realms, encountering manifestations of history's great visionaries and their competing pictures of what comes after death.

Back on Earth, Stacia steps up as the acting Promethea, protecting New York in Sophie's absence and getting her own chance to carry the mantle that has passed through so many hands before her.

Third in the series, this volume leans fully into Alan Moore and J.H. Williams III's most experimental territory, using the comics page itself to render radically different cosmologies and states of consciousness.

English comic book writer, born in Northampton in 1953. Best known for Watchmen, V for Vendetta, From Hell, Swamp Thing and Batman: The Killing Joke, he is widely regarded as one of the most influential writers in the history of comics and helped establish the graphic novel as a serious literary form. He has also written prose novels, including Jerusalem and The Great When, and has worked as a performer and occultist.

J. H. Williams III is an American comic book artist and co-creator working professionally since 1991. He grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and now lives in Las Vegas. Known for his artwork on Promethea with Alan Moore, Batwoman (for which he won a GLAAD Award), and The Sandman: Overture with Neil Gaiman, he has received multiple Eisner, Harvey, and Eagle Awards.

Mick Gray is an American comic book inker who has worked for DC Comics since 1990. He is best known for his frequent collaborations with artist J.H. Williams III, including the Eisner Award-winning Promethea, as well as his inking work on Joker and, with Patrick Gleason, Batman and Robin. He also teaches comic book inking at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
