Synopsis

Pearl Hartley will do anything to protect her young brother, Henry, from being sent away to the worst boarding school in the land — and to avoid being sold into service herself to fund her stepmother's excessive lifestyle. When a mishap sends them fleeing into the forest by night, they find shelter with Rowan Barrington, a man who wants nothing more than to work peacefully as a baker deep in the woods, forgetting his own painful past.

A sweet, clean Regency romance retelling of Hansel and Gretel, and the first book in Sienna Peake's Once in a Wood series of fairy-tale-inspired Regency romances.
