Synopsis

After losing a foot in battle, Lieutenant Robert Brenton has retreated from the navy and from society to a crumbling estate on the Cornish coast, unsure of his place in either world. Holly Addison arrives as an unwilling guest, her engagement just broken and her reputation in ruins, still writing letters to the fiancé who abandoned her. Thrown together in Robert's quiet house, both are forced to confront what they lost and what they're still capable of wanting — a Regency-set retelling of "The Steadfast Tin Soldier," about choosing genuine happiness over the life you thought you were promised.
