Synopsis

Captain Caspar Graysmark, at the end of the Napoleonic wars, is sent into a French forest in search of stolen gold — and stumbles instead on a hidden cottage. Scarlett lives there with her sister and grandmother, exiled from England by her father's mistakes and worn down by the cold winter months. The Englishman who arrives at her door, looking more like a bear than a captain of the British army, reminds her of everything the war took from her. A Regency-era retelling of "Snow White and Rose Red."
