Synopsis

In a world where roughly eighty percent of humanity is born with a superpower — a "Quirk" — Izuku Midoriya is one of the powerless few. That has never dimmed his dream of becoming a hero like his idol, the mighty, ever-smiling symbol of peace, All Might. Bullied by his explosively gifted childhood friend Katsuki Bakugo and told again and again that a Quirkless boy can never save anyone, Izuku keeps studying heroes anyway, filling notebooks with their powers and tactics.

Then a chance encounter with All Might himself sets Izuku on a path he never imagined possible — one that could give him the strength to enroll at U.A. High School, the nation's most prestigious hero academy, and stand alongside the very heroes he has always admired.

The opening volume of Kohei Horikoshi's blockbuster shonen manga, My Hero Academia, Vol. 1: Izuku Midoriya: Origin introduces the underdog hero, his world, and the mentor who changes everything. Fast, funny, and genuinely heartfelt, it launched one of the best-selling manga and anime franchises of its generation.
