Synopsis

A single mother and artist building a quiet life on Cape Cod, Megan Taylor receives devastating news: her cancer has returned. Faced with the hardest decision she has ever confronted, she is pulled into an emotional reckoning that forces her to weigh the moral choices and long-buried compromises that have shaped her life. The love she carries for her fourteen-year-old daughter, Olivia, and for her closest friends is stretched to its limits. Olivia, meanwhile, watches her world unravel and begins behaving in ways she cannot understand, her private struggles turning dangerous enough to put her own life at risk. Around them, Megan's circle of friends is bound together by tangled secrets, and each must decide whether to bring the truth into the light or stay haunted by it. Moving between mothers and daughters, illness and friendship, the novel explores the depth of a parent's love and the lengths people go to protect the people they cherish. It is a story about sacrifice, the choices that define a life, and the fragile threads that connect women to one another.
