Synopsis

Shopping with her sister, DI Amy Winter notices a mannequin in a wedding dress in a bridal boutique window, and then the blood at its mouth. The victim was posed alive, deliberately, to be watched while she died.

When a second body is staged, investigators find a link to Sugar Babes, an online service arranging meetings between older men and young women. Amy is hunting an accomplished psychopath, and she is unsettled by the charismatic head of the display agency, who is far too interested in her serial-killer parents. At the same time her biological mother, Lillian Grimes, is appealing her conviction, and Amy is coming apart. When a third victim goes missing she starts cutting corners — and putting herself where the killer can reach her.

Left For Dead is the third book in Caroline Mitchell's DI Amy Winter series.
