Las otras niñas

Las otras niñas is the second novel in Santiago Díaz's Indira Ramos trilogy, following the Madrid police inspector as she ends nearly three years of leave in a small Extremaduran town and returns to duty. Her homecoming is complicated by a secret she has kept from her subinspector and former partner, Iván Moreno, and the two must set that tension aside to face one of the biggest criminal puzzles of their careers.

The case begins when fingerprints belonging to a man once Spain's most wanted fugitive surface at a gas station. The statute of limitations has run out on the brutal murder that made him notorious, so the police have no legal grounds to hold him. Convinced that a killer like him could not have stopped, Indira sets out to prove he has struck again — and to find a crime recent enough to put him away for good.

Published in January 2022 by Reservoir Books, the novel continues the noir, psychological-thriller register of the series that began with El Reloj de Sol.
