Kingdom of Embers

Kingdom of Embers
Synopsis
Alena Scott is seventeen, and she is not supposed to exist. Half vampire, half witch, she is an outlawed hybrid whose mother, a vampire chancellor, moves them from town to town and refuses to say what she is searching for. Alena has spent her life being told to hide what she is, and she is running out of patience for the secrecy.
Then she comes face to face with a grown-up version of the imaginary friend she played with as a child, and he recognises her too. Their shared, impossible history sends the pair chasing an explanation, while local murders, rogue vampires, and the ordinary cruelties of high school make it harder and harder for Alena to keep either half of her power in check.
The opening book of Tricia Copeland's Kingdom Journals series is a young-adult urban fantasy about a girl who may hold the key to a curse that could free witchkind or condemn it.
