A perpetually ambitious middle-class woman insists her surname be pronounced "Bouquet" while constantly staging elaborate, misguided attempts to outshine the neighbors she considers socially superior. Her schemes are consistently undermined by a family that refuses to let her pretend anyone is anything but exactly who they are.
