Synopsis

Tabloid editor Dennis Luxford receives a chilling letter: his secret ten-year-old daughter, Charlotte Bowen, has been abducted, and she will die unless he publicly acknowledges her. This revelation threatens to expose Luxford's decade-long lie to his wife and son, and destroy the career of Charlotte's mother, Undersecretary of State Eve Bowen. As Eve refuses to involve the police to protect her political future, Luxford turns to forensic scientist Simon St. James. The case takes a disquieting turn as the involved parties react unexpectedly, leading to tragedy and the involvement of New Scotland Yard.
