Synopsis

Fence Vol. 1 introduces Nicholas Cox, a scrappy, self-taught fencer who grew up with none of the training or resources his half-brother Jesse Coste had as the acknowledged son of Olympic champion Robert Coste. When Nicholas wins a scholarship to Kings Row, an elite fencing academy, he's thrown in among privileged, highly trained teammates, including his new roommate Seiji Katayama, a cool, prodigiously talented rival. As Nicholas fights for a spot on the team and a shot at facing Jesse, rivalries sharpen into grudging respect and early sparks of something more. Written by C.S. Pacat and illustrated by Johanna the Mad, the series draws on sports-manga conventions and is known for its prominent queer characters and relationships.
