Synopsis

Decades after the Trisolaran crisis began, a young aerospace engineer named Cheng Xin is recruited into a desperate program to send a single human consciousness to intercept the invading fleet — a decision that will define the rest of her extraordinarily long life.

After a long hibernation, Cheng Xin wakes to a transformed Earth living under an uneasy truce with Trisolaris, one held in place by a doctrine of mutual assured destruction and maintained by a single person entrusted with humanity's ultimate deterrent. When circumstance places that responsibility on Cheng Xin's shoulders, her choices — shaped by compassion, by fear, and by messages smuggled across the stars by an old friend — will determine whether the fragile peace holds, and what humanity's civilization is even worth preserving.

Spanning centuries, and eventually far longer than that, Death's End closes out the trilogy on a scale that moves from a single person's conscience to the fate of the universe itself.
