Synopsis

This omnibus collects the Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy by Liu Cixin: The Three-Body Problem, The Dark Forest, and Death's End.

The story opens during China's Cultural Revolution, when astrophysicist Ye Wenjie makes a choice that will determine humanity's first contact with an alien civilization. Decades later, as the scale of that contact becomes clear, the series follows a widening cast of scientists, strategists, and ordinary people forced to reckon with an invasion fleet centuries from arrival, a universe governed by a chilling logic of survival, and the very long odds of Earth's endurance.

Across the three novels, Liu builds outward from a single act of desperation to a story spanning centuries and, eventually, the fate of the universe itself — grounded throughout in hard science and China's twentieth-century history.
